The long awaited Apple event is now behind us and we must say that this event exceeded the expectations of many Apple fans. Few new products and future concepts were introduced on this event but the main focus was on the iPhone 6.
iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus
iPhone 6 comes in two variations – iPhone 6 model and iPhone 6 Plus model. iPhone 6 does not have clear edges and the display can be bent around the rim in order to assemble with the aluminum case. Both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus come with new Retina High Definition (HD) display on 4.7 ‘’ and 5.5’’ phone screens. There is a small difference in the thickness of these models. iPhone 6 is 6.9 mm thick while iPhone 6 Plus is 7.1 mm thick. In both cases these are the slimmest devices produced by Apple until now.
Apple has introduced a completely new chip along with the new iPhones. A8 (dual core 1.4 GHz) is a second generation of 64-bit A7 chip that was introduced with the iPhone 5S model which means that even though the chip was relatively new it was upgraded to provide better performance. A8 chip is around 25% faster when it comes to processing speed and it has around 50% faster graphic with around 50% better energy efficiency compared to its predecessor. This means that the new iPhone is around 50% faster than its predecessor and it also comes with 84 faster graphic. When we talk about RAM there is huge difference between iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus because the first one comes with 1GB RAM while the second comes with 2GB RAM. Of course, this performance can be achieved only by using good energy source and that’s why Apple chose 1.810 and 2.915 mAh for this model.
Another great feature of this model of iPhone 6 is the opportunity to make voice calls with the help of a WiFi network in cases where the WiFi signal is better than the mobile network signal.
Although the camera doesn’t have some spectacular resolution (8 MP) it is worth mentioning that this is a iSight camera with f/2.2 aperture and a completely new sensor as well as Pixel Focus technology – a technology that was never used in smartphones until now (it was usually used in professional DSLR cameras). Both models can record Full HD 1080p videos at 30 and 60 frames per second and slow motion videos at 120 and even 240 frames per second. iPhone 6 features digital image stabilization while iPhone 6 Plus has optical stabilization.
Finally, when it comes to price, iPhone 6 will cost $199 (16GB version), $299 (64GB version) and $399 (124GB version). These prices come with a two-year contract. The prices of iPhone 6 Plus will cost $100 more for each configuration. The deliveries will start on September 19th.
Apple has introduced another interesting product few days ago – Apple iWatch. According to the company’s management this completely new product will redefine what people want from this category of devices. This smart watch is very accurate and it comes with many additions. It is made of stainless steel and sapphire glass.
The designers of this watch didn’t simply copy the interface of iPhone and placed it in a mini version. There is a button placed on the side of the device which triggers the LED and photodiode which convert the mechanical movement in digital data. In this way, every time you press the button you will get back to the home screen and with its help you can perform a number of other functions.
The applications are designed in a simpler way so users won’t have the chance to use every feature of the standard apps.
iWatch comes with a S1 chip which offers a complete computer system on a single miniature chip. On the back of the watch there are four sensors including two infrared sensors and heart rate counter.
The so-called Digital Touch feature provides a list of friends you can call or text. You can even nudge them by simply touching the center of the screen. The notifications are very subtle and you can check them simply by lifting the wrist. There’s integration with Siri but only on a basic level. If you request a location for a designated place, the maps on the watch will lead you there with subtle notification at every turn.
Apple watch will allow users to view images (most likely those stored on iCloud). Fitness is an important part of iWatch. Fitness app is responsible for monitoring all physical activities and movements, while workout apps will serve as motivation boosters during training sessions.
The new Apple Watch will come in two versions – small and large and additional three editions – Watch, Watch Sport and Watch Edition and each of them will have its own bracelet and belt. They will be fully compatible with iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and iPhone 5, 5S and 5C.
The cheapest Apple Watch will come at a price of $349 and it will be available in early 2015.
Besides the new devices Apple has introduced a new service called Apple Pay. This is not a big surprise for those who were following the latest news about Apple before the event took place. But this is the first time that Apple confirmed this project officially. A lot of people think that this could be a major turning point in the field of mobile payment service. So how will this system work? In simple words, in the future you can use your iPhone device to the cashier and when it’s time to pay for the purchased goods you will only lean your smart phone to a designated place. The device will connect to your smartphone and proceed with the transaction. In order to use this service you will have to own iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.
The event was finished with a spectacular performance of U2 – the favorite band of Steve Jobs. They took the opportunity to promote their new album which can be downloaded for free from the iTunes Store..
